The design for the Quick Connect Sleeve Retainer allows the easy connection of a wire harness assembly to an Oxygen Sensor. In order to meet a multitude of testing, performance, and safety criteria, we developed a highly complex, double-reverse drawn component. The redesigned component, despite being formed from 304L Stainless Steel, a material prone to microscopic stress fractures when drawn to this degree, was a huge success.
Our creative, now patented, design solution was coupled with an automated, zero-defect inspection system to fulfill our customer’s demands. For our efforts, Trans-Matic received the coveted Precision Metalforming Association’s Higgins Design Award for Product Innovation, and was featured in Design Engineering magazine.
